Holy Cross church, Felsted

Holy Cross church at Felsted in Essex has undergone a huge refurbishment program, an important part of which was excavating the existing floor, under the guidance of the Essex County Council Field Archaeology Unit.

The original floor was composed of several different textures and materials, and the object was to unify the appearance of the floor by laying our pamments throughout the 250 square metres of the main body of the church.

The colours were chosen to echo the colours of the arch at the end of the nave, and enhanced with boiled linseed oil treatment.
